Day 17 – Venice

Sunday 25th September

This morning we got a bit of a sleep in – we had a 9.45am departure on the bus which would drop us at the port to catch our ferry to the main island of Venice. It was gorgeous weather today – sunshine and no clouds to be seen.

Day 16 – Verona

Saturday 24th September

Today was a long driving day – which to be honest, was a nice chance to relax and sleep after a hectic day in Rome yesterday. Today we were heading to Venice (yay!) with a stop on the way in Verona – the town from Romeo & Juliet.

Day 15 – Rome

Friday 23rd September

This morning we woke up to gorgeous sunshine for our full day exploring Rome. We met up with Ellie and caught the metro to the Colosseum. We met up with our tour guide for the Colosseum and Roman Forum tour and were given our little headpieces so that we could hear her.

Day 13 – Isle of Capri

Wednesday 21st September

We had an early start this morning – 7.45am we left the hostel for our ferry to Capri. Our Contiki coach couldn’t fit down the streets to the ferry, so we had to jump on a shuttle coach to take us.

The shuttle coach dropped us off and then we had to walk a little bit further to the port – while walking, the sky opened up and it started raining (noo!). We got on the ferry for the journey to the Isle of Capri – it took about 20 minutes, so not too long.

Day 12 – Florence to Sorrento

Tuesday 20th September

Today was a long driving day – departing at 9am for Sorrento from our hotel in Florence. The drive would take about 8 hours with a few short stops at service stations along the way.

The drive to Sorrento was really beautiful- we drove along the coast and the views were stunning!

Day 10 – Cinque Terre

Sunday 18th September

This morning we had a 9am departure and I was very excited because not only would we be going to the country I was most looking forward to, today we would be visiting a place that has been on my bucket list for years – Cinque Terre (and now I even now how to pronounce it properly – kind of like Chinkwa Terra).

Day 4 – San Sebastian

Monday 12th September

Today we had a bit of a later start which was nice – breakfast at 8am and then departure at 9am. Today we would be leaving France and entering Spain! The third country of the trip. We drove for about an hour and a half until our first stop at Dune du Pilat – the largest sand dune in Europe.
