Saturday 24th September
Today was a long driving day – which to be honest, was a nice chance to relax and sleep after a hectic day in Rome yesterday. Today we were heading to Venice (yay!) with a stop on the way in Verona – the town from Romeo & Juliet.
Friday 23rd September
This morning we woke up to gorgeous sunshine for our full day exploring Rome. We met up with Ellie and caught the metro to the Colosseum. We met up with our tour guide for the Colosseum and Roman Forum tour and were given our little headpieces so that we could hear her.
Wednesday 21st September
We had an early start this morning – 7.45am we left the hostel for our ferry to Capri. Our Contiki coach couldn’t fit down the streets to the ferry, so we had to jump on a shuttle coach to take us.
The shuttle coach dropped us off and then we had to walk a little bit further to the port – while walking, the sky opened up and it started raining (noo!). We got on the ferry for the journey to the Isle of Capri – it took about 20 minutes, so not too long.
Tuesday 20th September
Today was a long driving day – departing at 9am for Sorrento from our hotel in Florence. The drive would take about 8 hours with a few short stops at service stations along the way.
The drive to Sorrento was really beautiful- we drove along the coast and the views were stunning!
Monday 19th September
This morning we had an 8.30am departure from our hotel in La Spezia. Today we would be heading to Pisa and then Florence.
We drove for about an hour or so to our first stop – Pisa.
Sunday 18th September
This morning we had a 9am departure and I was very excited because not only would we be going to the country I was most looking forward to, today we would be visiting a place that has been on my bucket list for years – Cinque Terre (and now I even now how to pronounce it properly – kind of like Chinkwa Terra).
Wednesday 14th September
Today was a big driving day as we were saying goodbye to San Sebastian and driving to Barcelona. First, we had a 3 hour drive to our first stop, which was Zaragoza. Zaragoza was our lunch stop and we had about an hour here.
Tuesday 13th September
Today we got to have a bit of a sleep in as we weren’t leaving for the city until 9.45am. Breakfast was from 9am and it was really crap – sausages and pieces of baguette. Lots of people didn’t make it for the 9.45am departure as they were too hungover from the night before. Continue reading
Monday 12th September
Today we had a bit of a later start which was nice – breakfast at 8am and then departure at 9am. Today we would be leaving France and entering Spain! The third country of the trip. We drove for about an hour and a half until our first stop at Dune du Pilat – the largest sand dune in Europe.
