I am currently planning a trip to Europe with Contiki and my planning process includes reading as many reviews of Contiki Europe from past travellers as possible.
After having completed two Contiki tours, I’ve decided to write up a post with my thoughts on Contiki in general and on the two specific tours that I’ve done in North America. There are a few different tour companies aimed at young travellers that offer tours in North America but Contiki was the one I knew most about.
First, I must start this post with a disclaimer; this is not a paid review in any way. I chose to fly Hawaiian Airlines on my most recent trip to the states as they were the cheapest and I also paid to upgrade to ‘Extra Comfort’.
I’m currently sitting at Honolulu Airport, waiting for our next flight to New York City. Our first flight was delayed by 30 minutes and then again by another 45 minutes so we had a very long time to wait before leaving Auckland!
When we booked our vacation package through Universal, we also booked tickets to Busch Gardens in Tampa. Busch Gardens is about 1 and a half hours away from Orlando, but when you pre-purchase a ticket, you can book in on a complimentary shuttle to the park which picks you up from Universal Studios. This was super handy for us staying at Hard Rock Hotel.
Diagon Alley was probably the thing I was most excited about on this trip! I had been following the Wizarding World of Harry Potter expansion since it was announced, and after visiting Hogsmeade/Hogwarts in 2011 and I was so excited to go back and see Diagon Alley!
The package deal that we had for Universal Studios included Early Access to Diagon Alley, as well as breakfast at The Leaky Couldron and The Three Broomsticks. Continue reading
