First, I must start this post with a disclaimer; this is not a paid review in any way. I chose to fly Hawaiian Airlines on my most recent trip to the states as they were the cheapest and I also paid to upgrade to ‘Extra Comfort’.
This morning we were up early to catch the 7.30am shuttle from our hotel to JFK. Our flight to Honolulu was at 10am and I wanted to make sure we had enough time to get through security. Checking in was really straight-forward using Hawaiian Airlines self-service check-in kiosk. We grabbed our boarding passes, tagged our bags and dropped them off at the bag-drop counter.
I’m currently sitting at Honolulu Airport, waiting for our next flight to New York City. Our first flight was delayed by 30 minutes and then again by another 45 minutes so we had a very long time to wait before leaving Auckland!
So I am currently sitting at Auckland Airport at our departure gate waiting to board our flight for the first leg of our long journey to New York! Our flight has been delayed by 30 minutes so it’s a bit longer that we have to wait.. Approximately 2 hours until we can board. At least we get priority boarding being on extra comfort.
It’s now less than 6 weeks until my brother and I are off on our American/Canadian adventure and it’s time to book some of the activities we are going to do outside of Contiki.
With only 2 days in New York City prior to the start of our Contiki, we are really limited as to what we’ll be able to do – especially as our first day in New York starts at 7.00am after two 9-hour flights! Yup, we land in New York at 7.00am and we wont be wasting any time in seeing as much as we can. To get from JFK Airport to our hotel in Chelsea, we’ve pre-booked a private car with Dial 7 because it seemed easier than a taxi and we like to have a set fare. Everywhere on the web says don’t even bother with a shared shuttle in NYC so we are listening!
