This morning it was another early start for those of us that had signed up to visit the CN Tower. We started the morning with Tim Hortons for breakfast – this chain is everywhere! It’s like Starbucks in America (although they have that here too). Then we walked about 20 minutes or so to the tower. Even though it was still early, it was so humid! I was sweating by the time we got there.

The elevator up to the observation deck is scary – the floor has glass panels and so do the sides so you can see out. The observation deck is 100 floors up so the views are really good. It wasn’t a very clear day so it was a bit hazy but still good.

After the tower, I was keen for shopping. Some of the others did an optional brewery tour but I ended up catching a cab with some of the others back to Dundas Square to go shopping. Toronto is very similar to New York City but nicer and less busy.

For shopping, we went to the Eaton Centre. This place is absolutely massive! I was in there for a few hours and still didn’t see all the shops. I went crazy at Sephora and spent so much money on makeup! I have no regrets though!

I also tried poutine for the first time! It’s just French fries topped with cheese curds and gravy. It was pretty good!

After I was done with shopping, it was back to the hotel to chill for a while and then get ready for our dinner and comedy show at Second City. I was excited to use my new makeup to get prettied-up!

The dinner and show was an optional on Contiki and nearly all of us signed up. The dinner was at Wayne Gretzky’s and was pretty good – three courses. The show is really what makes the optional worth it though – it was absolutely hilarious! It’s sketch comedy and just so awesome! I definitely recommend it if you’re in Toronto.

After the show finished around 10pm, most of us headed back to the hotel in cabs as we would be back on the road at 8am tomorrow for our next stop – Ottawa!

Will be here with Contiki at the end of this month. Just Wondering — Did you have a theme night in Toronto? (I recently came across a 2012 Eastern Escapade blog mentioning a school uniform theme night)

    • No we didn’t have any theme nights on our particular contiki but I do know one person who had a school uniform theme on their contiki in Toronto a few years ago.
